When this is given, dopamine acts directly on beta1 receptors, causing increased myocardial contractility and increased heart rate.<\/p>\n<p>Dopamine doses greater than 10 mcg\/kg\/min stimulate alpha receptors. This results in \u00a0vasoconstriction, which is an increased systemic vascular resistance.<\/p>\n<h2>Dopamine Indications for Use:<\/h2>\n<p>Dopamine can be very effective in treating hypotension with signs and symptoms of shock.<\/p>\n<p>Dopamine is typically used as a second line drug for symptomatic <a href=\"https:\/\/www.proacls.com\/wiki\/ekg-rhythms\/bradycardia-ecg-ekg\/\">bradycardia<\/a> after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.proacls.com\/wiki\/acls-pharmacology\/atropine-sulfate\/\">atropine<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Dopamine Precautions &amp; Contraindications:<\/h2>\n<p>Dopamine may cause tachyarrhythmias and excessive vasoconstriction.
